End enderman farm (endermite bait)

Emma's own enderman XP farm: endermen chase a named endermite they can never reach, fall 42 blocks and walk up to her tunnel with one heart left. Not the usual design, a bit odd, but it works, and it has an enchanting station at the end of the tunnel.

How it works

  • Endermen go after any endermite they can see. Two named endermites ride minecarts on two short rail lines, which is what pulls them in.
  • The top line runs five blocks over a 15ร—15 cobblestone spawning platform. An enderman standing on the platform can't reach that high, so it walks to the closest spot it can stand on: an open trapdoor in the platform. Trapdoors look like floor to a mob, so it steps on and drops 42 blocks.
  • The fall leaves it on one heart. At the bottom it can't see the top endermite any more, but the second one, on the roof of Emma's tunnel, keeps it coming to the cell in front of her.
  • Emma stands one block inside a tunnel only two blocks high. An enderman is almost three blocks tall, so it can't get in, and the closest it can stand is just too far to hit her. One hit kills it, the XP rolls to her, and the drops fall through a carpet into a hopper and a chest she can open from her spot.
  • Two levers next to her are the void switch. Flip them on and trapdoors beside the kill cell open, so the endermen fall into the void and the farm runs without anyone there.

Building it

Positions are counted from the corner of the schematic (x, y, z as Litematica shows them for the file).

  1. Build it over the void, at least 128 blocks from the main island, so the platform is the only place nearby where endermen can spawn. Emma builds hers around x 250 and y 20 to 40.
  2. Everything except the platform is glass or has a slab on top, so nothing spawns anywhere else.
  3. Bait each line: put a minecart one block from the line's end, throw ender pearls at your feet on the end rail until an endermite appears (about 1 throw in 20), push the cart into it and name it with a name tag. An unnamed endermite despawns after two minutes.
  4. The end rail of each line is a powered rail with no power, which works as a brake so the cart stays put. The top line starts at x 5, y 47, z 7 and the bottom one at x 7, y 4, z 9.
  5. Stand at x 7, y 1, z 9. The levers are at x 6 and x 8 (y 1, z 8); the chest is under the carpet at x 7, y 0, z 8. The enchanting table is at the end of the tunnel, at x 7, y 1, z 14.
  6. A walled ladder shaft from the station room goes all the way up to the top line, so you can re-bait it without leaving the farm.

Emma's results

  • Emma built it in survival from her own guide: 679 of 679 blocks in 3.5 minutes, then caught and named both endermites herself (31 pearls for the top line, 2 for the bottom one).
  • At the stand she went from level 1 to level 30, then rolled the farm's own table 20 times.
  • In an earlier creative build she went from level 0 to 30 in about 12 minutes without losing health.
  • Catching an endermite took 10 pearls and 23 seconds in its own test.
